The
Pennsylvania School of the Performing Arts/SIMBT offers
the aspiring student a more complete and rewarding
learning experience. Students are afforded the
opportunity to learn with experienced, professional
instructors.
Proper training provides the necessary skills needed to
compete in the new performing arts market and is placed
in the forefront of our curriculum. We focus on teaching
the skills and techniques that allow our students to
excel and thrive in all forms of the performing arts.
Our
programs are designed to meet the personal and
professional goals of our members while providing skills
that will serve for a lifetime. We welcome you to be a
part of our new season.
Terri Garcia - Lee:
Artistic Director / Founder/Master Teacher: A proud member of
AEA -SAG- AFTRA. Mrs. Lee has been inspiring all her students to
reach a new understanding and mastery of musicality and acting
performance as well as inner accomplishments through their
dancing. A graduate of the prestigious North Carolina
School of the Arts in Ballet, Mrs. Lee made her Broadway
debut with The Three Musketeers directed by Joe Layton &
Tom O'Horagan and The Revival of “West Side Story “ with Jerome
Robbins. She has worked with other dance legends including Bob
Fosse, Pat Birch, Lester Wilson, Billy Wilson, and Michael
Peters and many others. During her professional career on
Broadway and National Broadway tours she studied acting at
The Neighborhood Playhouse (Misner technique) and at
Carnegie Hall in NYC. She trained with Scholarships from The San
Francisco Ballet, The Minnesota Ballet, The Pennsylvania Ballet,
Joffrey Ballet, Alvin Ailey and The Broadway Dance Center. She
has been teaching and performing for over 30 years. She is a
proud of all her students’ accomplishments as we help give them
wings to fly. Mrs. Lee is also a proud mother of daughter, Paloma Garcia - Lee
who made her Broadway debut at the young age of seventeen in
the longest running Broadway show in history The Phantom of
the Opera. She welcomes you to a wonderful enriching,
warm, creative, fun studio atmosphere, to learn and grow for a
lifetime! A pre - professional performing arts school for
children and adults of all ages. PSPA is the official training
school for Spirit In Motion Ballet Theater. |

Bucks County’s Premier Performing Arts Center, The
Pennsylvania School of the Performing Arts
of Newtown welcomes exciting new addition of new
teachers from New York City! Jennifer Paige Chambers
and Todd Shanks are distinguished performers from New
York City to add to the list of other teachers as Denise
La Pointe from STEPS on Broadway and Kristen Scott with
American Repertory Ballet Company of Princeton and other
professionals in world of Dance/Theater and Ballet.
Todd Shanks from NYC STEPS ON BROADWAY has been
featured in Dance Spirit and Dance Teacher Magazine and
has performed in many music videos, commercials and
television programs. He comes to us from Steps on
Broadway in New York City.
Jennifer) Paige
Chambers (AEA, SAG, AFTRA)
was
last seen on Broadway in The Producers with
Nathan Lane and
Matthew Broderick where she appeared as Ulla, the
Swedish secretary. Paige also performed in the Los
Angeles cast with
Martin Short and
Jason Alexander. She then went on to appear as Diane
Lorimar in 42nd Street, She began her
professional career at 17, while still in high school,
with an offer by director and choreographer
Susan Stroman (The
Producers,
Oklahoma,
Contact,
The Music Man,
Steel Pier, Young Frankenstein, and
others) to appear in Crazy For You. Then at the
age of 19, she appeared as Judy in A Chorus Line
and worked alongside Mitzi Hamilton and a Radio City
Rockette in NYC at
Radio City Music Hall. She then went on to the 4th
National Tour of the longest running musical (at that
time), Cats, as the Siamese Cassandra. She was
honored to perform the role of Purity, one of Reno’s
Angels, in Anything Goes with the one and only
Patti LuPone at Lincoln Center. On television she
has had roles on Sex and the City, Law and Order,
Monk, and The Late Show with David Letterman (10
episodes), and national commercials for E-Trade, Levi's,
Nissan, USA Today, and Sky Vodka. She is excited to be
working closely with Terri Lee and the Pennsylvania
School of the Performing Arts
Kevin Backstrom
(Director/Choreographer) After receiving his BFA in
Theatre from Ohio University .New York City, A Chorus
Line, Broadway Company. Broadway and on tour with 42nd
Street, Cats, La Cage aux folles, Meet Me In St. Louis,
as well performing in industrial shows and commercials
and backing up Mitzi Gaynor. Kevin is now one of only
two people authorized to re-create the original
direction and choreography for West Side Story. This
distinction has allowed him to travel all over the
world.
Quincy Pronker
– Founder and Director of Work of Arts Studio in NJ ~ He
has studied at "Ballet Magnificat!" Quincy received
scholarships at Alvin Ailey, Ballet Magnificat and other
schools on the east coast.
Billy Johnstone: Guest Master Teacher
This Broadway dynamo is a six-year veteran of “Cats”.
Other Broadway credits include “A Chorus Line” and “West
Side Story“. Mr. Johnstone is a Master Instructor at the
renown Academy of Musical and Dramatic Arts in
Manhattan, NYC.
Kristen Scott:
Ms. Scott graduated from Indiana University in ballet
and in 2000 she joined American Repertory Ballet in NJ,
where she still dances today. She spent seven weeks in
Kenya during the summer of2007. Her experiences in
Africa were more impactful than any of the other places
she had been and since returning to the US she has been
committed to making a difference. Kristen,Director of
COME UNITY, a non-profit organization that aids dance
groups in hosting fundraising events like tonight's and
is grateful for SIMBT's participation in this venture.
